Unleashing the Beast

destroy, and utterly to make away many (Daniel 11:44). The phrase make away many means "to utterly slay and destroy." According to the Hebrew dictionary, it can also mean "to seclude and ban for religious reasons." The rage of the Beast is visible in his treatment toward the Jews. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people (8:24). Notice the prophecy says, "not by his own power," because the power and authority the Antichrist receives will be from the power of Satan: And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon (Satan) gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority (Revelation 13:2). The phrase holy people alludes to the Jewish people living in Israel. During the final 42 months of the beast kingdom, Daniel informs us: And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time (Daniel 12:1).
