present when the northern bear meets the lions of Judah on the mountains of Israel (Ezekiel 39:2). With America's strong Christian base, many understand the prophetic importance of Israel. During the Clinton administration, political talking heads would often chirp that America should change her policy toward our greatest friend in the Middle East, Israel. Even today, we hear our public officials say that Israel should give up land that was gained in previous wars in exchange for peace. But we ought to look in our own back yard. Did America steal Texas and New Mexico from the Mexicans during a war? Should we sign it back over to Mexico? Did our early fathers leave a trail of blood and tears as they forced the Indians westward? If so, should we return the land of their ancestors? When wars are fought, boundaries change. Every modern nation in Europe once had a different boundary, yet no European is demanding that they go back to the boundaries of the Grecian or Roman Empires! The Bible indicates that God gave the land to Abraham and his children, through Isaac, and by a blood covenant: And he said unto him, l am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it (Genesis 15:7). In 1948, 1956, 1967 and 1973, the enemies of Israel rose up in war to destroy the Jewish state. In 1973, a surprise attack by Syria could have destroyed the nation. Yet, Israel prevailed despite incredible odds. Yes, there was land that
