The Male as Visionary and Leader

I can see Moses, after he‘d finished spe aking, standing behind a bush and crying to the Lord, ―Did you hear what I told them? O God, please help….‖ God said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on” (v. 15). I guess what the Word of God is trying to teach us is that a leader is somebody who never transfers his fear to those for whom he‘s responsible. I didn‘t say he never has fear —but he doesn‘t let his fear infect others. A real man, a true leader, is a servant. He is not a ruler. He takes care of others before himself. Jesus said, You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to be come great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave — just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Matt. 20:25 – 28) The apostle Paul echoed this theme when he wrote, “Each of you should look not only to you r own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Phil. 2:4), and “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her” (Eph. 5:25). How did Christ love His church? First of all, by giving Himself for her. This means that a man should give up his personal, private, ambitious, egotistical desires in order to serve his wife and family. He needs to emulate Christ‘s n ature. A true leader has humility, so that he is willing to learn from others and be corrected, when need be. Some of the greatest moments in my life are times when my wife corrects me, gives me ideas, or provides insight on something that I haven‘t been able to do right. My wife has awesome r e sources within her. It takes a real man to submit to help. It takes a fool to avoid it. God is not looking for a controller.
