The lack of rest, the physical abuse of their bodies, and the allowance of pride to rise in their hearts, I believe, are three of the reasons this great outpouring continued only a limited time. If we do not learn from the mistakes of the past, we will repeat them in the future. Good soldiers must rest and have times of just “chilling out,” as the kids often say. When we truly are at rest, then we cease from worry. Scholars note that an early Greek manuscript names a man called Titedios Amerimnos; his first name was a proper name, but the second name in Greek meant, “to worry.” Based upon his name, it was believed that before his conversion he worried continually. However, in the manuscript, after being saved he became, “Titedios, the man who never worries.” 1 When our body, soul, and spirit rest, we are recharged, renewed, and revived for the next season of engagement.
