Korah was a noted, wealthy prince of Israel who led a rebellion with 250 other leaders against Moses and Aaron, which eventually cost him his life and the lives of all the rebels with him (Num. 16). David was being hunted like a wild beast by his angry and jealous father-in-law, King Saul, and had opportunity to kill Saul twice. However, David refused to do evil against Saul, as David understood the spiritual authority God had given Saul (1 Sam. 26:5–11). It is easy for offended persons to seek out a false prophetic word that pours a little oil on the wound and makes them feel better about accepting their offense as a useful weapon to defeat the opposing side. Offended people are not afraid to betray and hate their offender, thus causing their love to waxcold and their conscience to become seared and calloused. DID JOHN THE BAPTIST GET OFFENDED? John the Baptist was a cousin to Jesus, as Christ’s mother, Mary, and John’s mother, Elizabeth, were also cousins. John was born sixmonths prior to Christ; both were about thirty years of age when John was baptizing believers in the Jordan River and Christ came to the Jordan to be baptized of John (Luke 3:23). John introduced Christ as the “Lamb of God” and informed his own followers that he must decrease and Christ must increase (John 1:29; 3:30). Shortly after Christ’s baptism Herod had John arrested and imprisoned for his politically incorrect statements made against Herod’s illegal marriage. While John was in prison, several of
