This happened in Jeremiah’s time, when we read: And the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.” —JEREMIAH 14:14 Jeremiah was warning of the coming Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem, while the false prophets at the temple were saying that prosperity was coming and the enemy would be defeated. These were two opposite predictions, and the people were confused as to who was truly speaking on God’s behalf. Of course, when the destruction arrived, Jeremiah’s name was made known as the true seer of the Almighty. When an individual in a church becomes offended, they may attempt to pull others into their offense. At the peak of their offense some seek out a confirmation that their negative attitude against the pastor or leadership is “approved” by the Lord. There is always at least one self acclaimed and self-anointed prophet or prophetess in the church who will come to the aid of the offended soul and begin to prophesy that “God told me to tell you to leave this church because the glory of God has departed from it,” or, “They have offended us and need to be exposed.” An offended person will
