C. Who is this multitude?

1. Are they the tribulation martyrs now around the throne from Rev. 6:11? 2. Are they the people killed during the tribulat ion who “made their robes white” in 6:11? 3. Are they the church that has gone through part of the tribulation, as some teach?

Note: they come out of tribulation and have “washed their robes” (Rev. 7:14) Note: they are before the throne day and night – the saints will rule on earth

THE SEVENTH SEAL IS BROKEN

A. This angel is Christ

1. Only a priest could offer incense in the Jewish Temple 2. This “angel” has a censer, incense , and is at the golden altar in the heavenly Temple 3. The thirty minutes of silence occurred when the priest entered the Holy of Holies

Note: Early writings say Raphael is the angel over the prayers and Gabriel was seen at the altar

B. The angel mixes the incense with the prayers of all of the saints

1. Incense was used in the Temple and was a picture of the prayers of the saints (Ps. 141:2) 2. The prayer in chapter six was to avenge the blood of the innocent (Rev. 6:10) 3. When the angel throws incense to the earth, the judgments continue (Rev. 8:5)

C. This is a picture of the Day of Atonement

1. Three groups will be judged on Atonement

a. The totally righteous b. The totally unrighteous

- in heaven at the Bema - on earth in the tribulation, (and who repented not) - those who must choose

- Rev.11:18

- Rev. 16:11 - Rev. 20:4

c. The in-between

D. The earthly priest entered the Holy of Holies four times on Atonement

1. The first time was to take fire off the altar for incense 2. The second time was to kill the bull and place blood in a bowl 3. The third time was to sprinkle blood in the ark seven times 4. The fourth time he announced, “ It is done.”
