I think that one sentence sums up the bulk of the erroneous teaching in our churches today. Jesus never promised us such a thing. In fact, He could not have been more clear. Jesus had no home, was mocked, spit upon, betrayed, beaten, and finally put to death in the most agonizing fash ion possible, on a cross. Why then should we start to whine and cry when we don't feel well or lose some sleep, suffer losses financially or have others turn against us? A year ago, I was in touch with some Christians who are working in deliverance. This case is a most sad one because of their unwillingness to bear another's burdens. I was first contacted by a psychologist working with a young woman whom I will call Jean (not her real name). Jean had been raised in a Catholic orphanage. The entire orphanage was organized into a satanic coven. From an early age Jean was forced to participate in satanic rituals within the orphanage. She was frequently sexually abused and was forced to partic ipate in human sacrifice. As she grew into her teens she was impregnated three times, the purpose for each conception was to produce a baby for sacrifice. Three times she watched as her babies were sacrificed. Finally, at the age of eighteen she managed to get away from the orphanage and went to another city to try to start a new life. Things did not go well as she was quickly contacted by the satanists in the area and was continuously under demonic torment as they tried to force her to join their coven. By the age of 20, she was diagnosed as being schizophrenic and "Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you ... " John 15:20
