Prepare-for-War
This is the most important question. If they are not truly committed to Jesus Christ, then you are not doing them a favor by commanding the demons to come out because they will just return seven times stronger. Also, if they are living in active sin, the demons then have legal ground to stay and 'you will not be successful in casting them out.
"{Jesus said] But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house." Matthew 12:28,29 "[Jesus said) When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first." Matthew 12:43-45
From these two scriptures we see that when a demon is cast out, he is going to get seven others stronger than himself and try to get back in. If the house is swept clean, but a "strong man" which, in the Christian's case is the Holy Spirit, is not guarding the house, then the demons can come back in. The first scripture shows us that the demons must first overcome the strong man to get into the house. If we cast demons out of a non-Christian, or out of an uncom~ mitted Christian living in active sin, the demons will be free to come back in. It is the responsibility of the deliverance worker to be sure exactly where the person seeking deliver ance stands with the Lord. The example of Chris given in Chapter 9 shows what happens to a person after deliverance who is not a Christian. Also, much time is wasted by people trying to deliver a person who is, through active sin, giving the demons legal ground to stay. Anyone with active sin in their lives will not be able to keep the demons out after
