and told me about Bud's call. I told her to go check the front door as the Lord had told me. Sure enough, someone had just managed to break the lock and was in the process of opening the door when Elaine arrived. She called out and commanded them to leave in the name of Jesus and they fled. Shortly after the covenant I described in the first chapter, Elaine was still in the hospital critically ill. One Sunday as I was driving home from the morning church service the Lord spoke to me and told me that I must shortly come face-to-face with one of the top demons in Satan's service and that he would try to kill me. I said, "Oh, Lord, I do not feel I am prepared spiritually for such a confrontation." The Lord replied, "You decide what things you want from me to prepare yourself for this confrontation, then go for ward after church tonight and I will covenant with you to provide you with those things." That afternoon I prayerfully pored over my Bible. Eventual ly I came up with a list of twelve things, each with scripture verses to back them up. I requested such things as the ability to endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. {II Timothy 2:3) I requested a spirit of "power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (II Timothy 1:7) I also requested from the Psalms such passages as Psalm 144:1: "Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight." Above all, I asked the Lord to make His guidance very clear to me and make me especially sensi tive to His voice. That covenant was the second I had made with the Lord in a church. I will never forget that night. After the service I quietly went up to the altar expecting to pray by myself as there was no formal altar-call after the evening service. However, the Holy Spirit must have alerted Pastor Pat be cause he quickly came over to me and asked how he could help. I briefly told him of the situation. I had my requests
