Prepare-for-War

During the next two years, more often than not, the Lord called me at two or three A.M. Many times He allowed me to sleep only one or two hours and I spent the rest of the night in prayer and reading and studying His word. He trained me to awaken instantly to His call any time of the night. This has been responsible for saving our lives on more than one occasion, as we are frequently attacked physically by satanists and the Lord awakens me to warn me of danger. (I am sure that at the beginning of this trainM ing period, there were times when I woke up that the Lord had not actually called me. However, as I walked in faith, and always stayed up each time I woke up, the Lord trained me to be more and more sensitive to His call.) I am not the only person whom God has trained in this way. Let me give you another example. About a year ago I became very ill with a lung problem. I was so short of breath that I had to remain sitting upright in a chair for two weeks. The first night that I finally improved enough to lie down, I was totally exhausted and fell into a deep sleep. I was sleeping on a couch in the living room when the Lord called me about two o'clock in the morning and told me to get up and check the front door. I heard our dog growling and growling, but I couldn't seem to get my body to obey to get up. The Lord understood as He always does. As I was struggling to wake up enough to force my body off the couch, the Lord awakened a Christian brother of ours who is a lawyer. He told this brother to get up and call us. Fortunately, Bud was obedient. Although he felt a bit silly doing so, he telephoned us. The phone was in Elaine's bedroom and she is a deep sleeper and is almost completely deaf. Elaine would not normally have heard the telephone but the Lord magnified the ring so that it awakened her. Bud told her that he felt a bit silly calling, but the Lord had commanded him to call and tell us we were in danger. Elaine came to where I was, managed to arouse me fully
