Prepare-for-War
"And the Lord came down in the pillar of the cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle ... And he said, hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision and will speak unto him in a dream." Numbers 12:5-6 "Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one ... " Psalm 89:19
There is a fascinating reference to the "valley of vision" in the first part of Chapter 22 of Isaiah. I believe the "valley of vision" means the spirit world. Clearly, then, there is a link between visions or images and our spirits. God, His angels, Satan and his demons, can all communicate with us through our spirits, by visions. The creation of images or visions in our minds seems to put us into direct contact with our spirits, just as we receive visions through our spirits. This is why the use of visualization is so dangerous. It can put us into contact with Satan's kingdom. This is why we are told to cast down all "vain imaginations" in II Corinthians 10. Now that we have established the fact that visions and visualization are indeed the language of the spirit, let us look to see what God has to say about the practice of humans creating their own visions, or, in the language of today, visualizing.
" ... the priest and the prophet have erred ... they err in vision, they stumble in judgment." Isaiah 28:7 "Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord. They say still unto them that despise me, The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination ofhis own heart, No evil shall come upon you. For who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word and heard it?" Jeremiah 23:i6-18
