"Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place. Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart. Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed." Jeremiah 14:13-15
These scriptures show a progression. First, the prophets erred (or made a mistake in) their visions. Therefore. they are unable to judge correctly and did not walk according to God's will. Second, the prophets spoke from a vision that they had created. Note, the scripture says, "They speak a vision of their own heart, not out of the mouth of the Lord." This isĀ· condemned by God. Thirdly, the people who accepted the teaching of these false visions were willing to do so because they themselves were following after their own visions. Scripture says, "Every one that walketh after the imagina tion of his own heart." Now why were the people's own vi sions and imaginations so wrong? Because they satisfied self. They said, "No evil shall come upon you.'' Isn't that just what's being done today? People are being told to "visualize" healing, health, wealth, success, whatever they want, not what God wants. Lastly, the final scripture shows us very clearly that people using visions from out of their own will got entangled in the spirit world. Jeremiah 14:14 shows us that God equated these false visions with divination, which is witchcraft! Anytime humans are in contact with the spirit world outside of the will of God, they are in contact with unholy spirits (demons) not the Holy Spirit. A link forged between the
