Prepare-for-War
"Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit." Hebrews 6:1,2 However, there is one much overlooked scripture in all of this: I am convinced that the practice of the laying on of hands has become so popular in our day because of the ego trip it can give the person ministering in such a way. The very act itself inevitably draws a certain amount of attention to the person who lays on his/her hands. That is why we must be so careful in this area - our natural self desires to bring glory and attention to ourselves, not to God. Therefore this is an area in which Satan tries to work very frequently; quite successfully, I must add. In the scriptures, the people laying on hands were always described as elders or leaders who were proven servants of God. Also, the scripture quoted in Timothy carefully instructs us to be careful about who we lay our hands on. Much evil can occur either direction. Please let me warn you, the reader, to be very careful both in the area of who you permit to lay their hands on you, and who you lay your hands on. If you subject yourself to someone whom you don't really know, you can directly open yourself up to a transference of demons. This is a tactic particularly used by Satan within the Charismatic churches. How many men and women who travel through out the country, professing to be servants of God, laying their hands on countless people, are actually servants of Satan? We would be absolutely horrified if we knew! Remember, Satan tries to mimic everything that God does and Satan and his demons can work miracles. "Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure." I Timothy 5:22
