Since nicotine is the root cause of the addictive nature of smoking, I would ask the Lord to remove all traces of nicotine in the person’s bloodstream through the power of the blood of Christ—a type of spiritual blood transfusion . This prayer also included that the desire for the habit would be broken. I know that if the craving for the nicotine is gone, the desire to smoke will be gone. The second prayer seems a little radical. However, I saw it work on many occasions. I would pray that the cigarettes would begin to make the person feel sick when he or she smoked them and that the person would literally become sick of smoking . Amazing things can change when you get sick and tired of being sick and tired of something! I have never forgotten a rather odd incident in Daisy, Tennessee, in 1981 during an eight-week revival. A wife brought her husband’s cigarettes in a paper bag and asked me to “curse the tobacco” to make him sick and quit the habit.
