Daniel had predicted such a person would rise and would have dominion for forty-two months. Inspired by this prediction, a Jewish family called the Maccabees fought against the ungodly Greeks. After years of fighting, the Jewish temple was cleansed on the twenty-fifth of Kislev, three years to the day it was defiled by Antiochus. Josephus wrote:
