Becoming A Vessel Of Honor Rebecca Brown

163 "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly: and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." I Thessalonians 5:23

Paul teaches us here that we humans are tripartite beings. That is, we have three parts ~ the body, soul and spirit. He plainly states that all three must be cleansed and committed to Jesus, and that Jesus Himself must enable us to keep all three parts "blameless" until His return. I believe that in the beginning, before the fall, God created man a trinity (three parts) in perfect unity even as God Him self is in perfect unity. In other words, body, soul and spirit were perfectly united.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, [physical body] and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life [spirit]; and man became a living soul [the self which manifests as our mind, will and emo tions.]" Genesis 2:7

I believe the unfallen Adam and Eve had many abilities that we fallen humans do not have today. Why? Because of the perfect unity of their body, soul and spirit. Where can we find an example of another perfect man? In Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was Without sin. He is called the "second or last Adam" in many places in scripture. Even after His resur rection, Jesus still had a physical body. However, it was a glorified physical body such as we will have one day. Scrip ture tells us that we will one day have a body just like Jesus now has. In that day, we will be restored to an unfallen state and human beings will once again be a perfect unity. What were some of the characteristics of the perfect unified un fallen state? We see them in Jesus —especially after His resurrection. He could, with His physical body, do those things a spirit can do, such as walk through walls.
