The Jews call Uzayr a son of God, and the Christians call Christ the Son of God. That is a saying from their mouths; (in this) they imitate what the unbelievers of old use to say. Allah's curse be upon them: how they are deluded away from the Truth! (Sura 9:30). A strong emphasis of Islam is that "God is not begotten neither does he begat." A Muslim will deny that God has a son, or that He would ever have a son. The Koran puts a curse upon anyone who would confess such: "Allah's curse be upon them" (Sura 9:30). This is the strongest difference between a Muslim and a true Christian. In order to experience redemption from sin, true Christians believe Jesus is the Son of God (Colossians 2:9; Romans 1:3-4; Hebrews 1:2-3). In the Koran, Jesus is called Issa ibn Maryam , meaning "Jesus Son of Mary" (Sura V:19, 75, 81, 113).
