and shall give their power and strength unto the beast (Revelation 17:12, 13). Interestingly, in Daniel 7:24, the Antichrist arises after the 10 kings come to power. In Revelation 17:12, these same 10 kings receive authority in one hour—after they give their kingdoms to the Antichrist: The ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast (Revelation 17:12). In the Book of Daniel, these 10 nations are formed first. Afterward, the Antichrist arises from among them and uproots three nations: Egypt, Libya and Ethiopia. Although these three nations out of the 10 are overthrown, it appears the Antichrist will place his men in leadership positions; thus, 10 nations will still remain a part of his coalition. According to John, these 10 kings give their authority over to the beast in an hour's time. In return, the Antichrist gives them the benefit of not being overthrown by his armies, but allows them to rule alongside him. T HE S EVEN H EADS OF THE B EAST In Revelation, the apostle John further reveals that this beast has seven heads. Since apocalyptic writing is often veiled in symbolism, one must examine the Scripture to discover the meaning of these heads.
