And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth (Zechariah 14:12). This prophecy alludes to the time when the armies of the Antichrist surround Jerusalem. Some say the flesh of men melting alludes to the moment that Christ returns and, by the brightness of His coming, destroys the global armies, thus eliminating those who would attempt to eliminate the Jews (see 2 Thessalonians 1:1-10). Others believe it reveals a weapon of unbelievable power that literally melts the human flesh while the person is still standing on their feet. Such weapons, nonexistent in Zechariah's day, are now locked in silos on military bases! China, North Korea and Russia are actively selling ballistic missiles to Middle Eastern nations. The real danger is not a ballistic missile, but a missile warhead tipped with biological and chemical weapons. After the Gulf War, United Nations inspectors entered Iraq and were shocked to discover 50 chemical-filled ballistic warheads, 12,694 mustard gas-filled artillery shells and over 10,000 sarin-filled artillery shells and rocket warheads. They also discovered 300 tons of bulk agent ready for use (Source: Hal Lindsey, The Final Battle , p. 187). And Saddam claimed he had no “weapons of mass destruction!”
