interprets itself when compared with other parallel prophetic Scripture. Daniel 9:27 teaches that the Antichrist will "cause the sacrifice to cease." If the Jews are sacrificing, there is a temple. Daniel also revealed that the future Antichrist will set an image in the wing of the Temple (Daniel 12:11); there must be a physical building to set the image of the beast in. The Temple in Jerusalem had been destroyed for 25 years when the apostle John was told to measure the Temple in Revelation 11:1, 2. According to scholars, John wrote the book of Revelation in A.D. 95! Therefore, John was seeing a temple in Jerusalem during the Tribulation. John says that the outer court area will be given over to the Gentiles who will then trample the holy city under foot for 42 months (Revelation 11:1-2). I believe the entire conflict during the Tribulation will stem from a Jewish presence being returned to the Temple Mount. Some form of a building for a Jewish presence will be the trigger on the gun that will release the first bullet of the final conflict for Jerusalem. The fear of the Jews taking possession of the Mount could be seen when Yasser Arafat was in Indonesia. During a press conference, the Palestinian leader flashed a picture I recognized as a computer generated photograph printed by the Temple Institute in Jerusalem.
