It is interesting to note that after this rider, the Bible then speaks of many martyrs who are in heaven crying out for vengeance (Revelation 6:9-11). Apparently, these are people who are killed in the Tribulation because they had received Christ and were not willing to follow the teaching and laws of the Antichrist. T HE P ALE H ORSE AND R IDER ARE S EEN Early in the first 42 months of the Tribulation, John saw he imagery of another horse and rider. The English translation of the Bible identifies this horse as "pale." And l looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth (Revelation 6:8). The word "pale" is the Greek word chloros and is translated in two passages, Revelation 8:7 and 9:4, as the word green . Literally, this horse is green in color. While in Israel I noticed there were fluorescent green lights placed around the upper part of all the mosques. At night, the green glow can be seen miles away. I assumed these glowing green lights were simply to draw attention to the mosque as the centerpiece of the community. I later learned that the color green was considered to be the color of the prophet Mohammed, because it was the color of the earth. This same color, green, is found on many flags in Islamic nations including the Palestinian
