sanctioned is the meaning of the Greek word dokimazo . This word is used in the New Testament indicating the expectation of a good outcome as it relates to the test. One example can be seen in 1 Corinthians 3:13: “the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.” 1 When God allowed Job to be tested with the total loss of his children, his wealth, and his health, the Lord already knew that Job would not curse Him; God expected and planned a good outcome when Job’s trial concluded. However, Job had to still pass the test to receive the double reward (Job 42:10). The Greek word dokimazo is used of God and never of Satan. This word is translated as “prove” in the King James Version and is found in the following KJV passages. 1. In Luke 14:19 a man had requested to “prove” five yoke of oxen he had purchased. 2. Paul used the word referring to renewing your mind to “prove” what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God (Rom. 12:2). 3. Paul wrote to the church at Corinth telling believers to “prove the sincerity of your love” (2 Cor. 8:8). 4. In 2 Corinthians 13:5 Paul asked the believers to examine themselves to “prove” if they were in the faith. 5. Paul asked the Thessalonians to “prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thess. 5:21). In these instances when our faith, love, and mental thoughts
