Blaming God for this conception would be like a lifetime smoker becoming angry at the Almighty for not preventing him from getting cancer after consuming thousands of packs of cigarettes. It would be like playing Russian roulette and cursing God because when you pulled the trigger, the single bullet struck you and not the others. God protects the righteous from danger, but there is no provision of protection for the disobedient. Just ask Jonah. All humans are subject to human circumstances. The earth is in travail and responds with storms, earthquakes, hurricanes, and tornados that rip apart entire communities, at times taking the lives of innocent men, women, and children. The fleshly body begins to show age, and our bones began to creak like the boards in an old house, while our pace of life goes from the speed of a race car to a Model T. Age brings the death of friends and loved ones, various forms of affliction in the body, and new cares of life that we must learn to cast on the Lord (1 Pet. 5:7). Paul understood this truth and wrote a wonderful and encouraging passage reminding believers to hold on, because trials will not last forever: And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak, knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. Therefore we
