The prophet's handbook

seriously and do it. The angelic guard. The team of angelic forces God deploys to the prophet’s sphere at the time of the messenger’s installation to guard the work and enforce the prophet’s word. This force powerfully imposes the Lord’s will on the devil. Divine license to act legitimately. The spiritual certification and validation the Lord confers upon the prophet that authorizes him or her to act in supernatural matters within an assigned sphere. The license may not be discernible to humans, but it is recognized and respected by the forces of darkness. Divine license is generally uttered aloud from the mouth of the prophet while it is at the same time declared by God to His hosts. Jesus’ instructions to the apostles in Matthew 10, along with His response to the return of the seventy’s joy over their authority, are two examples. Divine appointment to prophetic service. God may induct a prophet into His service privately, but He will cause that appointment to be recognized and honored by His leaders. More than once He will have it voiced in His seen and unseen worlds by their authorities. An approved prophetic station. This is what Habakkuk referred to when he waited for God to answer him after his frustrated outburst over Israel’s sin. He knew that he perhaps even deserved to be reproved because of it and a reproof from the Lord could be painful. Therefore, the prophet sought refuge in his prophetic ward, or watch station. (See Habakkuk 2:1.) Approved prophetic assignment. The Lord’s dispatch of the messenger with a message. The fact that the charge is given by God means that He will uphold it. What Moses received from his burning bush encounter with the Lord was a prophetic assignment.

These are some of the most concrete reasons why the Lord upholds and performs, or ignores, a particular prophet’s word. Share your receipt of these confirmations with your study group or prophetic company. Compare notes to
