The prophet's handbook

and perspectives with God’s. It unites his or her supernatural self with the supernatural forces assigned to the work on earth. Prayer opens the heavens, removes the darkness, and sheds God’s light on the matters prophets handle. A shabby prayer life eventually renders prophets feeble in their ministries and hinders the execution of their prophetic duties. Another reason prayer is so vital to this mantle has to do with the weighty intercessory obligation of the messenger. The prophet’s primary charge, if you recall, is to stand in the gap and make up the hedge for God’s people on earth. This responsibility is where Israel’s prophets failed in Ezekiel 13:5.
