CHAPTER FIVE 5. Spiritual Climates

And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching. Mark 6:5-6 Before God does anything supernatural on a major scale, including signs and wonders, prophetic utterances must go forth. What hinders the signs and wonders from going forth is the spiritual climate in which we live. Some spiritual climates are not conducive to miracles. Jesus went into His own home town and could there do no mighty works because of their unbelief. The spiritual climate of that town was not conducive to miracles. Even though He was the Son of God with the power and anointing of God without measure, when He went to Nazareth He could not do any mighty works. In other words, the spirit of unbelief was so strong in that city that the climate was not conducive to miracles. Jesus laid hands on only a few sick people and healed them, but He couldn't do any mighty works. Most churches and most cities have a spiritual climate that is not conducive to the miracle working power of God. Too many spirits of religion, tradition, unbelief, doubt, sin, perversion, darkness, and other spirits are holding back the people. God wants to minister to people. He isn't concerned about just signs and wonders, He is concerned about people. The problem is not that God is not ready, it's the people who are not ready. When God went to bring Israel out of Egypt, they were
