1. The Roman Empire ruled when John wrote the book of Revelation around 95 AD 2. Rome was the city ruling during Imperial Rome and also during the Roman Church

The woman “rides” a beast.” An ancient imagery that links to Europe. The beast is Islamic but swallows the woman (Europe) and burns Rome (Rev. 17:16)

H. The city is burnt in one hour by fire (18:10, 18)

1. In Rev. 18:9, the kings will see the smoke of her burning 2. In Rev. 18:10, for in one hour thy judgment is come 3. In Rev. 18:9, men stand afar off for fear of the smoke 4. In Rev. 18:15, they stand afar off for fear weeping and wailing 5. In Rev. 18:19, men cried when they saw the smoke of her burning

HEAVEN REJOICES AT BABYLON’S DESTRUCTION (Rev. 19:4)

1. Babylon becomes a stronghold of demons, foul spirits, and hateful birds 2. The Euphrates River area is where four evil angels are bound (Rev. 9:14-15) 3. Now the antichrist will impact the entire world
