- Rome has influenced Europe’s kings for centuries

9. The “souls of men”

- Could allude to the doctrine of purgatory

B. She sits upon many waters

1. Nations are identified as many waters and sea (Isa. 17:12-13) 2. Many nations in the Middle East and parts of Western Europe are surrounded by water

C. She sits on seven hills (a dual meaning)

1. Two major ancient cities were built on seven hills – Rome and Constantinople 2. Rome was the headquarters for the West and Constantinople for the East 3. The seven hills are also the seven mountains and seven kings 4. There are seven continents on earth in which the Roman Church has been dominant 5. The seven empires begin with Egypt and conclude with the revived Roman Empire

D. She is supported by many nations (kings commit fornication with her)

1. Spiritual fornication is called whoredom and alludes to idol worship 2. The Old Testament prophets wrote of this (Jer. 3:9; Ezek. 23:37, etc.)

E. The wealth of the woman (the Vatican is wealthy)

1. From articles over the past several years revealing the wealth of the Roman Church system:

a. Vatican has investment banks (Rothchilds) Hambros Bank, London, Zurich, New York b. Billions of shares in major U.S. companies total 500 million in the USA alone c. U.N. magazine – gold wealth is several billion – some in gold ingots at Federal Reserve banks d. Land, property, and wealth; has the greatest amount of wealth of any world institute

F. The woman is drunk with blood (Rev. 17:6)

1. The Romans slew Jesus on the cross, and persecuted the saints for three centuries 2. There were ten persecutions for about 300 years and tens of thousands killed 3. The Roman Church system also had the Spanish Inquisition 4. From 313 to 1600, it is estimates that 50 million have been slain (drunk with blood)
