THE HISTORY OF ISLAM

 The religion was founded by Mohammad in the area of Arabia (Saudi Arabia)  After his death the religion split between two groups, the Sunni and the Shi ’ ite  Jerusalem was eventually taken over by Muslims and battles continued for 1300 years

A. The rise of the Mahdi

1. Ali was the first of eleven Shi ’ ite leaders, all killed in a row (Ali was killed in Kufa) 2. Ali and Hussain (the 10 th and 11 th leaders) were killed in Samarra, Iraq 3. The gold dome mosque built in 944 AD was the area where the twelfth Imam was hidden 4. There is a belief among some that the Mahdi will emerge from a cave or well in this area 5. The areas of Karbala and Samarra are the two areas the Shi ’ ite and Sunnis mark

WAR PRECEDES THE NEW ISLAMIC EMPIRE

A. The antichrist does not bring peace, but war

1. The red horse kills with a great sword (Rev. 6:4) 2. The pale horse kills with the sword, hunger, and death (Rev. 6:8) 3. Who is like the beast and who can make war with him? (Rev. 13:4, 7, 10; Dan. 7:21; 9:26)

4. Power was given to the beast to make war with the saints (Rev. 13:7) 5. He who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword (Rev. 13:10) 6. The little horn makes war with the saints (Dan. 7:21) 7. Unto the end of the war, desolations are determined (Dan. 9:26)

B. The beast’s authority comes from the dragon (Satan)

1. The dragon (Satan) is giving the beast his authority and throne (Rev. 13:2) 2. The dragon deceives the world with false miracles (2 Thess.2) 3. The dragon will motivate worship of the beast (Rev. 13:12)
