THE APOCALYPSE AND THE TEMPLE CODE
THE ISLAMIC ANTICHRIST, THE FALSE PROPHET, AND THE EMPIRE OF THE BEAST
This chapter is the pivotal chapter and the turning point during the tribulation
SEVEN KEY POINTS
1. The timing is the middle of the tribulation 2. The tribulation will continue another forty-two months 3. The two witnesses who ministered for forty-two months have been slain
4. The Temple has been reconstructed and the antichrist has stopped the worship and offerings 5. The trial and trouble for the Jewish people begins as the antichrist seizes half of Jerusalem 6. The team of evil has been organized; the antichrist and the false prophet
A. The Olivet Discourse
1. Matt. 24:14 2. Matt. 24:15-16
B. The word “abomination”
1. In the Hebrew Scriptures it is something spiritually disgusting, such as an idol 2. In the Greek Scriptures is something to detest, also often identified with idols
Key 1 – This abomination did not occur before Christ ’s birth (some teach it was Antiochus) Key 2 – This abomination did not occur before Matthew wrote Matthew 24:15 (37-40 AD) Key 3 – This abomination did not occur in 70 AD at the destruction of the Temple a. It occurs after the gospel is preached around the world as a witness to the nations (Matt. 24:14) b. Daniel speaks of the daily sacrifice being taken away (Dan. 11:31; 12:11) which is at mid-trib. c. This event could occur at the actual dedication of the new Jewish Temple at Passover
C. The abomination and the “image”
Key 1 – A Jewish Temple must be on the Temple platform in Jerusalem Key 2 – The two witnesses must first be killed, and then raised up Key 3 – The antichrist and false prophet must first team up in Jerusalem Key 4 – This image of the beast will cause the religious Jews to flee from Jerusalem
D. Matthew 24:15-31 holds seven parallels found in the book of Revelation
1. Matthew speaks of an abomination making Jerusalem desolate (Matt. 24:15) 2. A great tribulation that is something such as has never been seen before (Matt 24:21) 3. The days will be shortened for the elect’s sake (Matt. 24:22) 4. There will be a false “christ” performing satanic m iracles (Matt. 24:24) 5. The sun will become darkened and the moon will not give her light (Matt. 24:29)
