C. The provision for the woman

1. Israel will flee to the wilderness where God will sustain her (Rev. 12:6) 2. Petra is believed to be the area where this will occur – in Jordan or Edom (Psa. 60:6-12) 3. Israel will survive the persecution, the flood, and Satan’s wrath (Rev. 12:13 -16) 4. Israel will remain in the wilderness for 1,260 days, or 42 months (Rev. 12:6)

The 144,000 are “caught up” (Rev. 14:1 -2) and this is a remnant of Jews fleeing!

THE DAY OF ATONEMENT IMAGERY - (Revelation 12)

A. This is a picture of the Day of Atonement when the “scapegoat” is hurled off the mountain!

1. On Atonement there are two identical goats – one for the altar - one that escapes 2. One goat is offered for the Lord and the other (azzazel) is hurled off a mountain 3. The “scapegoat” is removed so the sins cannot influence the nation 4. Satan is “cast out of heaven” to stop his accusations of the believers (Rev. 12:7-9)

B. The cosmic conflict

1. There are three levels of heaven (2 Cor. 12:1-7; Isa. 14:13-14) 2. The second heaven i s presently Satan’s domain ( Eph. 2:2) 3. The war is between the third and first heaven in the second heaven region

C. The cosmic warriors

1. Michael the archangel verses Satan and his angels (Rev. 12:7) 2. Michael has angels won and removed Satan’s dominion ( Rev. 12:8) 3. Satan and his hosts were cast to the earth (Rev. 12:9)

D. The cosmic outcome

1. The heaven rejoices (Rev. 12:10-12) 2. The earth is given a woe (Rev. 12:12) 3. Satan is coming in great wrath (Rev. 12:12) 4. Satan knows his time is short (Rev. 12:12)

After Satan is expelled from the second heaven, the antichrist moves to Jerusalem!

“But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with gre at fury to destroy and annihilate many. And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him.” - Daniel 11:44-45 (NKJV)
