THE APOCALYPSE AND THE TEMPLE CODE

A. Jerusalem – the two cities of God

1. The earthly and heavenly Jerusalem

a. Christ appeared in this ministry as the prophet on earth (Matt. 21:11; Luke 21:9) b. Christ ascended to heaven as the High Priest making intercession (Heb. 9:11; 10:21) c. Christ appears again to become King of kings (Rev. 19:16) d. Christ will be a judge during the tribulation and at the White Throne (Rom. 2:16)

Note: In the New Jerusalem, He is the light and the glory and the everlasting King!

2. The city New Jerusalem (Heb. 11:10)

a. Abraham looked for this ci ty and “heaven” was seen by Daniel, Ezekiel, and Isaiah b. The prophets saw the Throne Room but not the city itself

3. The city has always existed

a. Jesus said , “In my father’s house are many mansions” (John 14:2) b. The mansions already existed 2000 years ago (John 14:2) c. Christ said, “I go to prepare a place for you . ” (John 14:2)

Note: The place was access to God that men did not have prior to Christ ’s resurrection Note: The word place in Greek is topos, meaning, a spot, a condition, location, or a place

4. The city has been reserved for the bride

Main verses : Revelation 21:2, 9-10

a. If the city was the bride, then Jesus was married to the city and not the people b. Paul said we were “espoused to one” (2 Cor. 11:2) and a chaste virgin c. The Holy Spirit is the “earnest of our inheritance” (Eph. 1: 14)

 The New Jerusalem is the wedding gift for the bride  The New Jerusalem is adorned as a bride for her husband  The New Jerusalem is where the saints live so the city is the bride

Note: God is married to Israel (called a husband) Note: Christ is married to the church (the parable of the ten virgins)

5. The city is the home of “j ust men made perfect ” (Heb. 12:22-24)

a. Different rooms and places in heaven b. There are three levels of heaven (2 Cor. 12:2) c. The third level is Paradise (2 Cor. 12:4) d. The Heavenly Temple (Isa 6:1; Daniel 7 and Rev. 4-5)

e. The New Jerusalem (Rev. 21) f. Heaven the land (or a planet)
