CHAPTER FOURTEEN Attitude #5 Teamwork

Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. —Henry Ford T rue leaders possess the attitude of teamwork because they do not care who gets the credit. They move people from their personal and private goals to serving the needs of the common good. A team spirit manifests the difference between ambition and the pursuit of a God-given destiny: Ambition is a private thing that you want to do only for your own benefit, while destiny is a big picture that involves benefiting others. A leader is always a team player. True leaders are always cognizant that no great accomplishment has ever been achieved by one individual. This is a practical prin ciple, but it is also by design. Mankind was created so that people would benefit from one another’s mutual contribu tions as they live and work together. This is so they will not become self-centered, will learn to care for the needs of others, and will be able to multiply the reach of their gifts by combining their talents as they create and produce things.
