"When thou saidst, seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek." Psalm 27:8

Life in our world today continually tempts us to escape from the reality of all the pressures into a void of blank mindlessness. There are so many escapes! We can sit down in front of the TV and escape by turning off our minds, tuning into whatever TV program happens to be on. Many people escape reality through drugs, still many more through the mindlessness of the endlessly repeated chants of Rock Music (including Christian Rock) which helps to blank out the mind, allowing only the physical feelings to exist. Another great temptation is to escape into a fantasy world, building endless vain imaginations in our minds, living in a world that is not real and that ever draws us fur ther and further away from God, the very source of our life and being. Multiple New Age techniques in meditation, yoga, TM, subliminal tapes and relaxation techniques also help the participant to blank out his mind and thus escape reality. It is a real sacrifice to deliberately refuse to make use of these escapes and: Instead of escaping from reality, we must discipline our minds to think about God, think about the scriptures, and talk to the Lord. We must constantly evaluate what is hap pening to us and around us in the light of God's word, which is our guidance and source of wisdom. As we do this in obedience to the Lord's commands, we will find that the Holy Spirit will speak to us more and more frequently. Then, no matter what is happening around us, even if our physical body is dying: " ... we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day." II Corinthians 4:16. " ... look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal (temporary); but the things which are not seen are eternal." II Corinthains 4:18
