Prepare-for-War
them and thus cause ourselves more difficulties. We think we can live a life satisfying our own sinful desires and still receive rewards in heaven. We think this way because we assume that God has the same emotions as we experience. We do not fear the Lord because we have no idea of His power and greatness. How many warnings there are in scripture.
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together ... but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Ofhow much sorerpunishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God. and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done des pite unto the Spirit of grace 1 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Hebrews 10:25-31.
How dare we think we can say "the sinner's prayer" and then continue to sin? How dare we claim we are "going to heaven" and still live in sin? How many so called ..Christians" are committing adultery, lying, stealing, cheating, dabbling in the occult and an endless list of other sins, tu~suming all the time that they will end up in heaven? How can such actions be justified with the above scripture? "The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fear ful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." This was written to Christians! Do we suppose our heavenly Father is so weak that He will be glad. to get us into heaven no matter what we do? "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." James 2:17
