The Beginning of Wisdom

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." ยท Proverbs 9:10.

If there is one thing that we seem to be lacking in the Chris tian churches today, it is "fear. of the Lord." I am sure the angels and even the demons stand in amazement at our lack offear and reverence for God. Scripture says:

"Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." James 2:19

Of all the deceptions Satan has used down through the ages since the Garden of Eden, getting men to believe that they don't have to fear God, has been his most effective tooL When Satan told Eve, "Ye shall not surely die," (Genesis 3:4) he was telling her, "You don't have to fear God, he won't carry out his threats, he didn't really mean you would die." How we have fallen into the same trap today! Somehow we have the concept that God is a big daddy sit ting up in heaven who cannot refuse His children anything. We are taught endless ways to demand and claim all sorts of things from God. Countless preachers tell us that if we pray or speak in a certain way that God has no choice but to give us what we want. Whatever happened to-the fearful rever ence of the great men of God who thundered the fear of God down through the pages of scripture in both the New and Old Testaments? Recently, while praying to Father about a particular person,
