CHAPTER4
Standing
"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and luwing done all, to stand." Ephesians 6:13
Standing still in one spot, going neither forwards nor backwards, is the hardest task of all. We humans think that we must always be moving, always progressing. It is so hard for us to understand God's way of thinking. Many times, simply standing still, holding the ground we have already won, is most important. Elaine and I had to learn this lesson early in our ministry. I wrote Chapter 3 to give you an example of what "standing" meant for us. I was continually frustrated be cause I felt that I was not gaining any victory. What I had to learn was that in God's eyes, simply standing still and hold ing my ground was a victory in itself. A number ofsatanists came out of Satanism simply because they saw us standing. Everything they tried, to kill both Elaine and myself, did not succeed. Satan used every tactic he could to discourage us. Tim's challenge to me regarding Elaine's continued illness in Chapter 1 came straight from the demons within him. Satan and his demons always know how to hit where it hurts the most! They have had almost 6,000 years of prac tice on human beings. They know our natures quite well by now, and they most certainly know how easily we get dis couraged when we don't seem to be moving forward.
