Rene is another case in point. Rene was a sixteen year old girl who had participated in a satanic ceremony to join a club at her high school. Six months later, when some of her friends tried to bring her to the Lord, the demons started af flicting her with intense abdominal pain. Frightened, her friends brought her to a church we were visiting. They carried Rene into the church kicking and screaming. She was plopped down in the front pew, doubled over, screaming in pain. The pastor and a few church members joined with me in ministering to Rene. The students gave us a brief history and told us that Rene had been screaming with pain for several hours. They told us that she had ac cepted Jesus that morning. The first thing that had to be done was to gain Rene's attention. Being young, she had just panicked when the pain started. She had had the pain off and on over the two weeks prior to my meeting her and had had a number of medical tests to try to find the cause. The doctors had been unable to find anything physically wrong with her. That morning the pain had started again but much more severe than before. I asked for a cold wet cloth and bathed Rene's face, asking her to drink some cold water. These actions helped her to regain control. I told her that she must stop screaming so that we could help her. As she settled down, she told me her story herself. The Lord led me to explore closely the issue of her salvation. As it turned out, she had not really accepted the Lord, the demons had spoken through her making the other students think she was saved. It took about 45 minutes to explain salvation to her because, as I closely watched her eyes, over and over again the demons rose up to block her mind from hearing what I was saying. Repeatedly I had to rebuke the demons and command them in the name ofJesus to back down so that I could talk to Rene.
