Immediately afterwards, I had her pick up a Bible. Lydia was overjoyed to find that she could then read God's word without any difficulty. This was most interesting. Be persistent. Many times the person seeking deliverance will not know just how the demons got in. Once you know, then you can command them to leave much more easily. Also, many times, you will uncover some sin which needs to.be confessed and dealt with by the person. Passivity Another important area to explore is to try to get an under standing of just how much passivity the person practices. People involved in the occult, and especially with problems of depression and suicide, usually have very lazy and pas sive minds. The number one cause of depression is a passive mind. People in the occult (the New Age Movement is included in this) have become used to blanking out their minds, thereby giving control of their entire mind and body to demons. These people must be carefully taught how to regain control over their minds before a deliverance can be successful, and also to enable them to keep the demons out after deliverance. Passivity is a real block to keeping demons out after deliverance. I have also found it most helpful to question the person to see just how much control the demons have over them. As the years have passed, the Lord has steadily shown me that the less passive a person is in their deliverance, the more likely they are to remain free of demons once they are set free.
