The Spirit Body in Deliverance

An understanding of the spirit body is essential in the minis try of deliverance. It is an often overlooked source of trouble. If the link between the soul and spirit is left unsevered, anyone who has been involved in the occult is open to continuous demonic torment from Satan's kingdom. I want to give some case histories here which will, I hope, help to make the concept plain. 1. Recently, I have been in contact with a pastor who is a missionary in Africa. He told me the following story which illustrates the link between the spiritual and physical worlds. Pastor R. and his wife were called to the home of a local Christian minister one day to help pray for his wife. The wife whom I will call Amelia (not her real name) was lying on her bed obviously is very severe pain and extremely ill. Haltingly, she told Pastor R. what had happened to her. Several nights before, Amelia had been sleeping when she had what she described as a terrible nightmare. She thought she awakened to find herself running through a field with a huge baboon chasing her. She was completely terrified, and ran screaming through the night. The darkness prevented her from seeing clearly where she was going, and she stum bled and fell. The baboon caught up with her and bit her vi ciously on her back. Her screams awakened her husband. He shook Amelia until she regained consciousness. She told her husband about her "dream" but complained that the pain of the bite remained. Her husband looked at her back and was astonished to find a deep bite in the flesh of her back just where she had felt the baboon biting her. Soon, she became very ill and the pain worsened. The local doctors had not been able to help her. Pastor R. realized that the problem was demonic and anointed Amelia and the bite with oil and commanded all demons afflicting her with illness through the bite to leave, in the name of Jesus.
