Giving Double Honor

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

Remember, the word honor means "value." How much do you value the ministers that God has placed in your midst? Paul is talking here about supporting the ministry. In this case, to honor means "to give to and support financially." Congregations who do not bless their ministers financially are dishonoring them. You cannot receive from their anointing if you do not honor them in this way. You will receive more from the anointing, within the men and women of God, if you honor them with your giving. In Acts 28, the people's giving followed the miraculous healing, but there was unmistakable honor given once they recognized the healing power activated in Paul. But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
