correct the confusion. It consisted of 365 days with a leap year falling every 4 years. Leap years contained 366 days. The problem was that it was 11 minutes and 14 seconds longer than the physical solar year, again throwing off the holidays. 4. The Gregorian Calendar Another calendar was needed to correct the errors of the Julian calendar. It needed to make the vernal equinox fall on March 21. Pope Gregory XII issued a decree in 1582 that dropped 10 days from the year. Called the Gregorian calendar, it begins counting years with the year in which Christ was born. Britain adopted this calendar in 1752, and later it was adopted worldwide. With the various calendars used over the past 2,200 years, it is impossible to perfectly pinpoint exact prophetic dates. For example, the Jews say there have been 5,761 years from Adam to the present (dating the creation of Adam from the year 2001). Yet, if we count time according to Christian scholars, about 6,000 years have passed from Adam to the present. So which time frame is correct? The Christian and Jewish time frames are different by 240 years! I have often taught that when God is dealing with Gentiles, He recognizes Gentile time. According to the book of Revelation, when God turns His attention to Israel during the final tribulation, the calendar reverts to a 360-day year. This is clear when considering that forty-two months is a period of 1,260 days during the tribulation (or 360 days making one year). This confuses the matter even more when trying to determine God's prophetic timing. Perhaps a solution is to understand the concept of covenant time. God Calculates Time Based on Time Between Covenants To better understand prophetic time, we must understand that God counts time based on when covenants were made. Literally, He keeps count of covenant time. A covenant is an agreement between two people that was sealed in blood during ancient times. This is why religious Jews circumcise their sons on the eighth day, because they keep the covenant God gave to Abraham in Genesis 17:10-14. God also made a special covenant with Noah concerning the earth following the flood (Genesis 9:8-13). God later made a covenant with Abraham
