contributions. The outcome of such an unbalanced message is presented in Revelation 3:17 when the Laodicean church declared, "I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing." This seventh church in Revelation boasted of having all of its needs met. Today, there is an emphasis on having one's needs met. In my personal life, having unmet needs makes me more dependent upon God. Saints without needs are usually also without prayer. In this time of prosperity, many men gloat about their wealth and power. They announce to the media that, during their administration, blessings and prosperity manifested. They warn that, if their party loses power, American prosperity will come to a grinding halt. Yet, while Americans focus on Wall Street and an illusion of prosperity, behind the scenes things aren't going so well. Just as God dealt with Israel, He is dealing with America. If we will seek His face, obey Him, and turn from our sins, we shall be "Blessed in the city and blessed in the field. Blessed when we come in and blessed when we go out. Our enemies that rise against us shall flee seven ways. The commanded blessing of God shall come upon us, bringing blessing to our livestock, our farms and our children" (Deuteronomy 28:1-14). On the other hand, if our nation does not listen to the Lord and obey His commands, then Biblical curses will overtake us. Based on Deuteronomy 28, one can see that America is experiencing a curse in the midst of its prosperity. Notice the seven curses that overtake those who turn their backs on God and the Bible. These ancient warnings spring forth into our time and our nation. The Seven Curses Coming Against America "The Lord shall smite thee with madness, and blindness and astonishment of heart." (Deuteronomy 28:28) Teens are murdering each other in public schools, and pre-teens are raping and killing in the inner cities. A recent news report told of a young 13-year-old girl who was raped by twenty young men from a public school. Our public schools are becoming increasingly unsafe.
