The thirtieth year Jesus began His ministry at the age of thirty (Luke 3:23). The Israelite priests were from the tribe of Levi. Levites were chosen to lead in spiritual matters and present offerings to the Lord in the tabernacle. Levite men could enter the priesthood at the age of thirty (Numbers 4:3). Thirty was considered to be an age of spirituality and spiritual maturity. Thirty years after the Declaration of Independence was signed, a great revival took place in America. Between 1800 and 1810, revival spread throughout the east coast and all of the states. Just as Levite priests first entered God's Presence at age thirty, our nation first began experiencing powerful revival at the tender age of thirty. 3. The number fifty Fifty is an important number in the Bible and in Judaism. At the age of fifty a priest could retire (Numbers 4:39). Every fifty years marked a time of Jubilee in Israel. The silver trumpets were blasted as liberty was proclaimed throughout the land. During the year of Jubilee, people were released from their debts and from slavery because, according to the Law, Hebrews were never to oppress one another. God also instructed that the stranger was not to be oppressed. The year of Jubilee was also a time of great increase as God blessed the land with bountiful crops (Leviticus 25:1-55).
