A T TIMES I have heard television ministers encourage viewers to stretch their faith and plant the largest seed offering they have ever planted. Some have gone as far as to prophesy that every person who will obey their instructions will receive a great financial blessing within a designated time. There is nothing wrong with people giving a large offering if they are impressed to do so by the Lord . However, there is a problem, from a biblical perspective, when everyone is promised the same level of return . For example, before his death a world-renowned, well respected elderly minister met with some of the top charismatic ministers in America. In the private meeting, he began rebuking them for the manner in which they were overemphasizing money. He asked them if they believed that when they gave they would receive a hundredfold return in the form of money as a result of their giving.
