entire crew was fearful. He had told His disciples, “Let us go over unto the other side … ” (Luke 8:22, KJV ). When Jesus tells you that you are headed to the other side, then you will make it to the other side—despite the storm, despite the wind, despite the boat being filled with water. Nothing can take the boat down when you are sailing on the sea on a word from the Lord! The disciples on the boat forgot one word, and that word was US ! Jesus did not say, “I will go over” but “Let US go over.” The plural pronoun means the entire group. They simply forgot the promise that they would make it to the other side. The circumstances were more important in their sight than the promise of their future. D ON’T Y OU C ARE A BOUT M Y S TORM ? More than nineteen hundred years later, the storm clouds still hover. Sudden and unexpected storms strike our vessels on the sea of destiny. We know where we should be going (to the other side), and we have a misconception that if the Lord has told us to go to the other side, that He has prepared the way and made the crooked path straight! We jump in the boat looking for a joy ride that turns into a ride from the pits . We react like the disciples, demanding, “Why didn’t You warn me this was coming? What are You trying to do, kill me or something?” If we had interviewed Peter during the storm, he may have said, “Serving God isn’t supposed to be like this, is it?” In his mind he saw success!
