water began covering the disciples’ feet. Suddenly, panic set in, and Christ’s chosen twelve began fearing this was their last boat trip and that their doom would soon be sealed at the bottom of the sea. Yet there in the back of the boat, sound asleep, was Christ. He was so tired from ministering He was too tired to worry about a storm and a sinking ship. As I meditated on this biblical narrative, seated to my left, holding our little three-year-old girl, was my lovely wife, Pam. At that moment I saw my little sweetheart, Amanda, take her little hand and rub her mother’s face. She said, “Mommy, don’t be afraid … I am here!” Then she put her head on her momma’s shoulder and went sound asleep. I thought, “Well, she’s like Jesus in the storm, sleeping while the rest of us are worried. She is sleeping because she does not understand the danger of this lightning. One strike on this plane, and we will go see Jesus!” I looked out the window of the plane as the white light cracked through the clouds, and I asked myself, “How could Jesus sleep in the midst of a violent storm? Why was He at such peace?” Then I turned my head to the cockpit, and our pilot was still calm and cool. I thought, “Perhaps he is taking Colon Powell’s advice, who, when he was asked, ‘What was the most important thing you learned in battle?,’ responded: ‘Never let the troops see you sweat!’” When we landed safely in Chattanooga, I received the
