In addition, I consider a special offering for the work of the Lord to advance the kingdom of God or a gift for the poor and needy during this season. Note again, however, that I seek forgiveness, pray continually, and give financially throughout the year. However, although the men of Israel would ascend in Jerusalem to the temple several times a year to present certain offerings for transgressions, for blessings, and to offer specific prayers, during the season of Teshuvah they observed special traditions and spiritual patterns. Still today this season is a special time for believers to follow the same pattern. T HE I MPORTANCE OF U NBROKEN P RAYER Humans have a tendency to pray only when they are in distress, great conflict, or danger. One of the greatest lessons you will learn is to create a set time each day to spend in prayer. There are traditionally three major prayers recited daily as Jewish prayers: the morning, the evening, and the night prayers. Jewish tradition states that Abraham prayed in the morning, Isaac in the afternoon, and Jacob in the evening.
