name and to magnify Himself among the people.” Throughout Christ’s ministry, after a visible miracle occurred, the multitudes would believe on Him, and many were converted. Before raising Lazarus, we read:
And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” —J OHN 11:41–42
Following the resurrection of Lazarus, the Bible says, “Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him” (v. 45). The influence of a miracle performed in the name of Jesus is evident in the large evangelistic meetings on the mission field. Once the people see the visible results that occur through prayer, they turn to Christ, often by the thousands. Paul told the church, “Pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified” (2 Thess. 3:1). The Greek word for “glorified” is the word doxazo , which “paints the picture of the triumphant arrival of God’s glory, ushering in a new and glorious day in the lives and territories where the Word of the Lord is heard and received.” 4 Always remember this: The purpose of God answering
